I was reading the article you provided a link for and found some interesting quotes:

Could he actually have been spending time in an alternate reality where his statements were true? Perhaps the U.S. government focused the energy stored up at the Pentagon and shifted the planet sideways in time to a more favorable war outcome. Perhaps he and a few other dukes out there remember a different Iraqi war.

Perhaps Sahhaf WAS working for the Americans. By giving the Arab world a false sense of security and confidence, he shattered their expectations and crushed their resolve. Anger engineered into despair. Now, Bush is double-crossing him and not having him arrested into protective custody.

Could Sahhaf be some sort of megajinx? Perhaps he is a luck sink. Any government associated with him will suffer greatly. That’s why the U.S. wants nothing to do with him.

Maybe Sahhaf is a powerful Cryptomancer. By saying something, he makes the opposite become reality. After helping Bush, he became worried that he would be double-crossed and arrested. So he did the natural thing: He requested to be arrested. Thus preventing it.

Reverse-Psychology based majick makes my head hurt….

In UA, a main source for rituals is demons. Apparently, being on the other side of the veil makes it real easy to see how the world REALLY works.

It’s also the primary reason adepts take chances with demon summoning. Why else would you let a sociopathic spirit into your ritual space or even your body? Knowledge, baby.

But demons are liars, cheats and bastards. They will try to screw a summoner six ways till Sunday before they give in. Hence, the numerous rituals which promise the big stuff but only invite the red meanies into your bloodbag.
