But, of course, they might still just be crazy. They may not even have any special abilities or know even one tidbit of correct, useful, or otherwise valid occult knowledge. They might, in fact, just be nutty.
Which isn’t to say they might not still be dangerous, useful, valuable, or adorable.
Where’d you find that? Just curious. They’re an interest of mine, as well.
Serious brain-fry. If someone perfectly fits a specific idea that humanity as a whole holds dear and primal, and you’re linked to them when they FULLY become that, you’re going to have so much backlash… and your life is pretty much certain to contain more strange coincidences than EVER BEFORE, thanks to the strange connection. That, or maybe it gives you a chance to screw over the clergy member, take their place, and royally mess about with things, perhaps dooming mankind forever. Who knows?
I agree, though the idea of a Grey could fit into ANOTHER archetype, one he just calls by a specific name. For example, maybe an archetype called “Mysterious Abductor,” “Boogie Man,” or “Strange Kidnapper”, with the latter perhaps being from the old, old “gypsies steal children” fear.
No kidding. You gotta learn to stand up to your group. It’s more than a game, so its more than just numbers and loopholes. Let’em whine. There are still plenty of LEGITIMATE loopholes out there to exploit, ones that are fun, exciting, dangerous, AND interesting, often once-in-a-lifetime and full of dire consequences.
Also, since you’d have to almost by definition be a porn star AND a porn-star who more-or-less specializes in group sex AND probably have a naturally mystical bent AND be primarily the GIVER not the RECEIVER (otherwise it dilutes the Have)… there aren’t many who could pull it off.
And besides, that’s taking it a bit rules-lawyersy. If I GMed it, it would be a snake you either don’t currently own or hadn’t owned for a long, long time, perhaps every before. GMs, we gotta interpret these things as something less than 10 Commandments, remember.
I think I read a book about something like that when I was younger, it was for younger young adults. It was about a book that was always just what the person who was holding it wanted it to be. For the kids that found it, it was about them and their adventures, writing itself as they went. To the man who would become the Wizard of Oz (whom they all had thought was fictional) it was a book of card tricks so that he could continue to impress the residents of Oz.
Damn, I love card tricks.
Also, it would be very hard to Channel the WECHBY. It’s a fairly precarious position.
I agree, I like that idea, too.
The way I look at it is this: Naked Goddess ascends. This sends major ripples through the Statosphere. Being the first Ascension to have been recorded on tape, this also cements the idea that what she DID was important, which it was. Most of her films were hugely symbolic, which is a potent force. So, add together hugely potent symbolic actions and the added force that the original actor of those actions ascending had to have and you get a whole new facet of “How Things Really Are” for an adept to obsess on. Remember, part of the Pornomancer portfolio is coincidence, a strong tie to the ripples in the Statosphere.
Not only that, but when you literally pour your life into something, you want it to live back.
What if two bodybags start gambling big stakes with each other?
That is ridiculous, I admit, but it starts to get harder and harder to get new types of snakes.
On the other hand, yeah, pretty bogus. I would have written up the powers differently, if nothing else.
I might let a Herpemancer in as a GMC, but not a PC. The STD jokes would just wear thin.
