I’d go with the whole shifting doors to an ordinarily inaccessible, or foreign, place thing.
I pulled this once, drove the players nuts trying to figure out what happened. Ducked into the backdoor of an auto repair shop in downtown Little Rock, came out of the bathroom of a pachinko parlor in Nagoya, Japan. They eventually got back, with the help of a dead kitten dressed like a Hello Kitty doll and a ko-girl named Clyde.
Sorry to reply so late.
What size group? I don’t know, really, what would you feel comfortable with? I personally prefer around 3 to 4 people. It’s a little easier to keep track of things with a smaller group, especially if you’re new to GMing.
Have you decided on what… eh, platform I suppose you’d say… to play on?
You can always run one using WebRPG or in the few remaining MUX’s that will host tabletop-style games. Then there’s always IRC.
I’m in the process of setting up my own MUX server for hosting tabletop games because my usual gaming group now lives about 2 hours south of me. I’m still coding dice code and whatnot at the moment, but it’s a pretty good way to go. You can download a port of TinyMUX for just about any operating system at http://www.tinymux.org

Here’s one link. A few years ago I found a place that had it all on PDF but I lost the link looong ago.
I’ve still got the files though.
I caught a Sevendust video late one night that struck me as pretty UA.
It involved a skinny, armless kid and his midget coach/ringman going to fight this beefy, butch woman in an alley. That’s about the best way I can describe it. It was rather bizarre.
Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the song (I’m not a Sevendust fan) but I did think the video was pretty damn cool.
There’s a guy I see quite often on the sidewalk as I’m driving down Cantrell Rd. that’s always struck me as a little bizarre.
He’s just some old guy who stands out on the sidewalk in front of what I assume is his house (he’s always been in the same spot whenever I’ve seen him), standing at perfect attention and facing direct west.
The funny thing is, every time I’ve seen him it’s always around 9PM, give or take.
