I got my copy of UA 2nd edition a few days ago and just finished reading it. I have only one thing to say.
Thank you.
Thank you for creating a system that doesn’t bog down the game and keeps things flowing.
Thank you for creating a setting that puts a demented smile on my face every two pages.
Thank you for inspiring thoughts of insane department store mannequins with rusty butcher knives and people with spiders in their minds that crawl out their ears and nostrils.
Most of all, thank you for the most freakin’ kickass rpg i’ve ever shelled out cash for.
I will second that vote! I’m in love with this little creation of yours.
My only beef is the lack of more stuff to BUY!… Is the game completely dead form a publishing stand point of what?

Let’s hope not, quality like this doesn’t come around everyday.
Speaking of quality, just ordered To Go. Joy.
Unfortunately, there are no more UA books on the way. Sales were never very good — I guess too many people just want to play a half-orc fighter-thief. But we had a good run and are really proud of all the work we did — as well as this site, which continues to bring out more material for the game every week.
As if I didn’t need YET ANOTHER reason not to like d20.
And of course by “not like”, I mean hate. Hate with 2x4s. With nails in them.
On fire.
Its too bad that good games have a tendency to disappear in the crap thats easier to sell. (The annoying communist in me has a rant going about the innate problems of an evolved capitalism which hooks up with downloading and filesharing, but Im stopping him right now)
I fell in love with UA between the print stop of UA 1st ed and UA 2nd eds release and all I and a friend had to read where the supplement books. We both worked at a gamestore and we bought everything we could get our hands on when it came to UA. One day i thought I should email Atlas Games and ask when UA 2 was coming out and air my sorrows – just to kill the half hour I had left.
To my surprise someone answered and said that he would send us one of his 1st ed books that he had over if me and my friend promised to buy 2nd ed when it came out!
One UPS later we had it and started a campaign that lasted for well over a year. When the 2nd ed came we both bought it and just through our enthusiasm we sold the rest of the UA2s the game store had quickly.
It pisses me off still to see shelf upon shelf of dungeon crawl BS in game stores and just a few UA supplements hiding in the back.
Too many good damn games never get released… (Im gonna go take some coffee now to avoid a communist rant again)
Anyone ever involved in UA – if you ever get to sweden, email and Ill buy you a round in a bar – your worth that and more!
Jens
Im sorry that I dont remember your name unknown stranger – we kept the envelope you sent the game in and your signature is still in the book.
Both of us (me and my coworker) spent days talking about the surprising kindness of strangers. You made our years at that fucking store seem better, thanks – honest: thank you.
Indeed this has to be the finest pen ‘n paper RPG out there.
Indeed it’s a shame that this game is on the fringe of the entire market of RPGs and sadly drowned by a steaming pile of horsedung that some of us consider the mainstream RPG market. On the other hand, the makers of Unknown Armies have my utmost respect for creating the most inspiring and intriguing RPG I’ve ever seen up to date.
Sure it’s a shame that there won’t be any more publications for the setting and game, but my thanks goes out to the makers for giving my group and myself a game for which we actually don’t even need extra publications. I resent all those money-hungry game designers that deliver unfinished, half-assed products which are far beyond conceptually kaputt – when it comes to entertaining roleplaying games.
I wholeheartedly agree with Stephen Alzis’ open letter for I share his sentiments on having purchased the book. Plus, it’s one fine piece of work, in the sense of prose and artwork, which is always a bonus goodie.
Amen to that. I got To Go this weekend (fastest book delivery I have ever experienced in my life) and I still can’t put it down. It’s like every page has some little gem hiding in the wings, ready to drop an Anvil of Joy(tm) on my head.
My favorite so far is on page 23 (go figure) : “She
I read that and couldn’t stop laughing for an hour.

Hahaha I live in Gothenburg (But I travel to STHLM every now and then aswell as MalmΓΆ), when it comes to bars any will do π
Stephen:
Thats my favorite thing too… the way all the texts are written in such a way that you LIKE reading it. Not only because you need to learn the rules and the world but because its written in a way that you WANT to keep reading.
Really fucking OT:
Me and a friend used UA vs D&D as an example of revolutionary vs reformist system design.
Rekyl/Jens
Hmmm… UA fan… in Gothenburg… Jens… processing… *wait for it*
About 6’4″, crooked teeth, curly short dark brown gray-ish hair, used to “work” at Tradition?
Close?

Actually shaved off brown hair with grey streaks and yeah crooked teeth (who died and made you my dentist π – if that has actually happened – I got the upper back tooth kicked out in a scuffle a few months ago, could you fix it for me? They kinda got me good with a kick to the side of my head. Also I’ve invested in those teethprotectors that boxers use and a pair of padded gloves (my fingers have started to make cracking noices when I write)… Am I 6’4”?
I have no idea mate, I just saw you as tall in the cards. Maybe that is more symbolical like I saw you as an equal and hence didn’t look down on you? =)
Teeth protection… could be a wise investment since you insist on picking fights with police officers in riot-gear π

In fact if they are going out of print and you dont expect to make any more dough… how about one huge sourcebook which contains everything sourcebookey that you have made so far, and leaves out the superceded content? Possibly with a section containing a variety of the things on this site? Printed in the fancy version 2 orange colour of course.
Damn. If you are all so passionate drop some attention this way:

Cheers,

About the very first message you posted, it’s a good game, in which the best Adept can fail and the worst succeed. The Occult world is full of cool stuff, and I’m planning on posting a French Cabal soon. That game just makes my imagination boil, incredible…I’m a brainomancer !
