How long after their death do the channels become known, apparent, and useful?
I just realized I’d done my third Icon within the first 24 hours of their death.
Beyond feeling a little morbid, I’m wondering when they ‘activate’, so to speak.
…
Is there such a thing as a lesser Icon?
If so, John Ritter’s in the running.
Well, Ritter is rider in German. And a ritter is synonymous with knight. John Ritter played the fool in most of his shows, so that could easily work into a Percival mold. And as everyone knows Percival – the most unlikely knight – finds the Holy Grail.
Hmmm…
Chris.
The Man in Black: an icon of terrible fortunes, as was the Green Knight, of the Grail mythos.
Fought, oddly enough, by Sir Gawain.
Gawain was the one who heard the message from his severed head:
“Gawain, get ready to go as you have promised,
Seek me out, sir; search till you find me as sworn here in this hall where all these knights heard.
I charge you, come as you chose to the Green Chapel to get as good as you gave — you’ve got it coming
and will be paid promptly when another year has passed.
Many men know me as the Knight of the Green Chapel,
so search faithfully and you’ll not fail to find me.
Come, or be called a faithless coward!”
I don’t know about you, but it’s sort of eerie, having a severed human head tell you your basic faults and providing details on your future.
But, I’m easily rattled.
And wasn’t Gawain in charge of Camelot’s kitchens… as a sort of head cook.
Cheers,
Chris.
My German is acknowledgely patchy. No offense taken.
I had flashbacks to art history and theory classes – German Blue Impressions with the Blue Riders/Blue Knights.
@Insect King: ah, you mean the “Blauer Reiter” movement. nice pictures! 😉 Reading my comment again I think that I was a bit, err, unjust. Ethymologically “Reiter” and “Ritter” have the same roots. Would make sense as knights were fighters on horsebacks. Sorry for trying to be a smartass! 😉
cheers,
carsten
