I know that you can apply shifts to combat (and often need to give players positive ones to survive a scrap)
But can you give them shifts for other things?
I’m mainly wondering about giving a +10 or 20 shift to their school of magic now and then, to reflect high concentration or when they are putting all their energy into, for example, a blast
Does this sound right?
thanks!
Hmmm…I don’t think that giving positive shifts for just concentrating is a good idea. However, there are situations it feels appropriate to me, like for a Pornomancer in the middle of an orgy. Or, maybe you could let someone choose to put all their power in one spell, gaining a positive shift to that one roll and a negative shift to all his other magick rolls untill he rests or something.
Well, putting more charges in usually nets more dice to assemble a good result out of. A shift might be redundant in that case. But favorable circumstances… maybe.
