Okay, like the title suggest, I need ideas for “weirdness”; strange facts, rumours, bizarre trinkets, even rituals, based around a common “theme”.
And that theme is… video games.
Before you lynch me, think on it a little. A major part of UA is paradox, correct? Well, video games are full of paradox- they’re bundles of artificial reality, yet nowadays they’re so real they could be glimpses into an alternate reality. And there’s the whole argument about them promoting violence…
So what do you think?

Enjoy!
Once i played a “one shot scenario”, not for UA but whit a videogame theme. I premade the characters (two for each player). The firt character they got was “average joes” who worked at a storageanex. Whit their characters they got some conversationcards (like you watched the news ant they said x.. you was on a fishing trip last weekend and got a big samolon that you whant to brag about and so on)… and first i played out a normal workday… and let tem talk (using conversation cards) during the breaks.. and when they (the characters) got home buy the evning the player started to wonder when something was going to happen..and i let them put away their charaters and gave them new ones… “the wierd ones”… this set of characters was “heroes” in some strane sureal fantasy world… and i put them true som clasic faantasy seting (save the farmers daughter for gold or something like that).. then cut back to a new day at work (for the average joes)…and so it continued …the only thing that changed was that the longer we played the shorter the average jou part got and the longer the “super hero” part got… (and diferent scenes in the superhero part to..not asaving a farmers daughter all the time)… and about halfway through the scenario..the average joe guys where starting to get calls from their boss asking why they wasent at work (or a girlfrien that asked why they didnt anwser the pohne and so on).. the fun part was that it took a while for my players to figure out that it was their average joe characters who played videogame so much that they neglected evrything els…. but in the end my players sold their videogames… but thats not necesary the end.. the important part was to give them a choise… that will say when they figure that their videogame is taking all their time…give them two choises …get rid of them or become a prisoner of your videogame….
(hope it was readable… and got you some inspiration)
