I’m a first time-GM in Unknown armies, and I did not quite understand the Taboo of the Messenger (maybe it has to do with English not being my first language).
Can Messenger tell only truth, or does his Taboo only forbid denying truth when faced with it?
The latter. He can speak as he wishes otherwise.
Here’s a sample conversation.
Messenger: “Your father’s dead.”
Messenger: “Yes, he is.”
At this point the Messenger must admit the truth (“Yes, I am.”) or break taboo.
Lying, denying the truth, or remaining silent in reponse to this question would all break taboo.
