shineboxI want to work a campaign arouind the idea of all the players being extremely low level Mafiso. I am unsure how I want to get them into the occult underground.
I figure that I wil have them put on this watch dog group to keep track of the OU. I figure that the higher ups will really not believe in this OU stuff and they put these guys on this group to keep them busy with litle tasks so they won’t get in the way of the real jobs.
I am interested in how you use the Mafia in your campaigns if you bother to use them at all.
WiretrippaIt’s simple. Make them a small-time ‘dirty deeds’ crew who take care of little stuff for the local capo. All it takes is one bar-brawl with a Dipsomancer, or an order from a superstitious consiglieri to retrieve ‘object X’, to start your boys down the path to becoming the local Mafia’s answer to the Ghostbusters.
I’m saying not only should you play it for high-level unnatural, but also for a few laughs. How the HELL are they going to explain to the capo that their mark sicced a posse of crazy homeless men on them? Or that they pulled Joey’s ear off with one hand, without even breaking a sweat?
MikesMindIn UA Canon, the Mafia and other originised crime groups are very distrustful of anything Magickal in nature, in particularly Adepts (see Hush Hush on how the Sleepers helped bring this situation about as part of their campaign to knock NYC’s occult groups on the head)
If you follow this setting, then you could have your players set up as a group to keep tabs on the other mafia guys to make sure they ain’t getting mixed up with all this wierd and freaky magick stuff. They could be a kind of ‘in house’ Sleepers (which raises the question of what they do when the real Sleepers turn up for some reason.. and what will they make of the New Inquistion guys running about in surgical masks and trench coats?).
In the Swap Meet adventure in Weep you have a low level made guy secretly running around with a ChaosMage/Bodybag who could be a good place to start your players off. Later on let them find out that their local Don’s grandaughter has started hanging around with members of the Cult of the Naked Goddess 🙂
