How do you folks run the skill penumbrae of Adept skills? Do you allow “knowng about places of local historical interest” to fall under the penumbra of Cliomancy (I personally would), do you allow “seducing people” to fall under the skill penumbra of Amoromancy (I personally wouldn’t).
Your skill is supposed to represent how good you are at doing your magic, and part of being good at magic is getting the charges, but that way madness lies (“I roll Plutomancy to make a killing on this investment”)
My general take – honed by whole *minuites* of vaguely mulling over it in my head – is that the Skill Penumbra of the Magick skill should include knowledge of the abstract mystical nature of whatever your obsession is about, and anything you could have picked up **purely** by dint of being really, really obsessive.
So an Iconomancer can roll their skill to know facts about their Icon, because if you’re a scary obsessive you’re likely to know that sort of thing, but a Plutomancer couldn’t roll their skill to invest well on the stock market because just being obsessed with money doesn’t mean that you know jack shit about economics.
Thoughts?

Depends on the way the player wants to play his plutomancer: If he wants to play stockmarket-broker style, I would allow it, if he plays the money saving grandma, I wouldn’t.
Remember: Firearms allows to fire a gun as well as knowing where to get one illegaly!
but it might let you know about the movers and shakers of that school/tradition, or some leads on rituals, or be able to spot the wake of related magics, auspicious events, etc.
I think most of all it would give you a sense of the type of situation/action you can get charges from. For example, an advanced Cutter would be might be able to inflict an exact amount of damage on themselves to charge up (exactly 3, instead of some variable amount, etc).
