You know the rule I’m talking about, that with any edge weapon you always do at least 1 point of damage no matter what? I don’t like it very much. The idea is sound, but it’s too…absolute. If a nervous punk with an X-acto knife attacks Dodgy “The Dodger” Dodgeson, he always cuts him. Even if The Dodger is ready for him, has a buckler (or tonfa, or maine gauche, or whatever), and is wearing armor.
It’s just too absolute, and I’m considering ways to fix it. Like I said, I think the idea’s sound, I just think that it’s reduced to absurdity in some situations.
Perhaps I’ll only apply it when the defender’s Dodge is under 40% or the attacker’s Struggle is at least 15% higher than the defender’s Dodge.
Any opinions? Better solutions? Any help would be apreciated.
I think wearing some kind of armor or carrying a sheild would probably counteract the “Knives Cut” rule, since now you have something to get between you and the knife. I think the rules assumes that you are being attacked while more-or-less unarmored. After all, very few people in this day and age walk around in full body armor with a sheild.
…. unless you’re on the SWAT team, I guess. 🙂
Nothing in the rules about ignoring your judgement. If the situation makes the rule absurd then ignore the rule.
