I Need your comment on an Archetype i plan to use

Hi everyone,

I plan to use an avatar Archetype in my chronicle and i need your advices, experience, etc. I did look around the material on this site and in the UA books and i just can’t find the archetype i wanted.

So here it comes… (English is not my first languague so be kind!)

THE SURVIVOR

Attributes: “Life will and must goes on”. That’s the message that the survivor carry, that the survivor himself embodie(or wants to be). in a certain way this avatar is close to the Martyr because sincerity, devotion and sacrifice are large parts of it. What distinguish one survivor from another is the type of threat/danger that they have gone through. In history and all across the world you can find fascinating storys about survivors often accompanied by some incredible act of the will(wich is a recurring trait in this archetype). The key to incarnate the survivor is the will to do what is necessary when the time come, whatever the cost may be(to garantee your survival and possibly the survival of others). Anyone that struggle for life/mental health at the sake of loosing everything (against almost impossible odds) is a candidate.

Taboos: Abandon hope or refusing to act in a key moment, either for a group of yourself is the greatest taboo. Yes,that mean you sometimes have to put your own life in danger for others (even if it seem paradoxal) the key is doing what is necessary. You cannot fake survival. Escaping stupid situation you created isn’t acting toward this archetype. Surviving suicide attempt, alcoolism, drugs addiction is good to awaken the necessity of life (your first 10%) and may bring you up to 50% (for the bigger risk, like for example a heroin addiction for years in the street using dirty needles). But after that you must survive an external threat (for example AIDS, or wathever).

Suspected Avatar: Nazi camp survivor are a recent favorite (thanks to Spielberg), Carmen Santiago, you know them…

Channels: 1-50%: You can re-roll any failed stress check that is endangering your survival against your avatar skill rating. If you succeed, you still take the notch (failed or hardened) but you don’t suffer the effect. A match mean you can choose not to take the notch. A crit mean you can remove or add a dot in that meter. A match fail mean you take the notch and trough an amplified effect (wich can save or doom you). A BOHICA mean you take two notch instead of one and go trough an amplified effect.

51-70%: You know what is the beat way to survive in any situation. If you succeed in channelling this power, the GM give you insight (what direction is water, what medicine take, witch part should I cut, what should I say to the killer etc). No one say it would be easy, but you know what to do.
