So, Central Park in New York City has a whole bunch of gates, right? They all have individual names. Most people don’t know, or don’t think about it, but they do. Like, there’s the Immigrant’s Gate, and the Farmer’s Gate, and the Hunter’s Gate, and the Children’s Gate, and the Stranger’s Gate, and a bunch of others.

The thing is, every person has a gate that’s right for them. A gate that unlocks their deepest potential. And, if you walk through YOUR gate, at the right time, in the right, ritualistic way, strange things happen. Maybe you wind up in a very different park, one that shows you the true nature of your choice. Maybe you just get a big jolt of mojo through your soul, and wind up dripping magick for a few days.

See, you don’t need to be an adept or an avatar to tap into this power. Normal people who stumble through the gate at the right time in the right way get the same benefit as a spell-slinger. And with all the Dukes wandering around the Rotten Apple in the old days snooping around for the right way to do it made it that much more likely that the straights would manage to hear about it.

That’s why the Sleepers really put the kibosh on the place, and why they keep watching to make sure the mystical level of the city doesn’t creep up too high. The park is just too dangerous to them.
