It’s the Real Thing

The Coke Bottle glasses are an extra thick pair of black horn rimmed eye glasses. Looking through them without wearing them shows the world as distorted and green tinged as one would expect.

Wearing them initially does this too, but after a full 24 hours of wearing the glasses the user will find they give him perfect 20/20 vision. They also impart (or improve if present) a Soul skill to the wearer called ‘See The Real Thing’ at 10%. This can be improved with experience as normal.

‘See The Real Thing’ can be used to see ghosts (especially ones posessing someone), avatars, adepts, and to detect lies.

That’s the upside. Here’s the downside. First off ‘Seeing the Real Thing’ is an Unnatural experience calling for at least a Rank 4 Unnatural check (or higher depending on what is seen). Next each successful sight of the ‘Real Thing’ leaves the wearer functionally blind when without the glasses for a full day. Lastly, after the wearer has adjusted to the glasses (after the first day), not wearing them when awake imparts a 10% penalty on any physical or social skill from the splitting headache the former wearer suffers.
