A clockwork room of renunciation?
A North Jersey clockworker has built the “changing box” to rehabilitate violent criminals and other people he doesn’t like. Its frame is made from re-cast WTC girder steel, and the centerpiece is the telephoto lens from the camera that broadcast the event from a Coast Guard helicopter — the world’s eye on “the day everything changed.” Once you’re locked in the box, the lens zooms into your left eye and peaks into your soul. A mirror mounted behind the lens reflects it back at you, right through the lens, and you get horrified by your own actions… and then you’re changed, just like the House of Renunciation.
Some say the changing box is actually a door into the real House, but others contend that the effect doesn’t last, and after few months the subjects are right back to their old ways, with just a self-righteous attitude remaining.
