Rorschach Ink Blots

You thought they were just ink…

… Those plates with ink smeared on them were just shown to crazy people right… One teenager stumbled upon some of Rorschach’s ink blot plates.. He looked at all ten of them moving them and looking at them from all different angles… After each one saying, I just don’t know…. After looking at the tenth plate and uttering that, he finally knew what he was going to choose as a career… and is now a very powerful man.

Rorschach Ink Plates: May use any ten of the plates, as long as they are in order.. ( Only ten are used in the official tests, but he had hundreds made, tested, and then chose the ten with best responses… You may use any plates, official or discarded, they just have to be in order.)
User must look at plate from every way, upside down, right side up, etc, and utter “I just don’t know” after each plate. At the end of this dumb luck situation, he will know the answer to the most important question in his life provided by the Invisible Clergy. But you may not use the same plates again (per person). Therefore tracking all the discarded plates could make you very knowledgeable. Some even theorize if his original pen could be found, maybe more plates could be created.

I like it, but it’s definatly major artifact territory. Maybe if it were a little less powerful, like answering an important question that will matter in the immediate future, or being purposefully vague, it would be easier to use.

Yeah… it’s my first posted idea.. I just thought it would be cool… You could probably leave what they learn up to the GM…

Rather than make it a major artifact, I’d have it work exactly as written… except the answer is given in the form of a symetrical inkblot.

As well as the fun of interpreting the blot, you also need to figure out the question. after all, this answers the most important question in your life, not teh quetsion you thinkis most important.

This would make a fun handout to give to players. 🙂

    Hmmm…

What if he had made 333 inkblots, each aligned to a existing or potential Archetype. Only the 10 of the most recognizable archetypes are regularly used. It opens the door to all sorts of new uses for them.
