I thought it was a bad joke. Then my seeker ritual went batshit…
So you’re interested in the scythe, eh? No, I don’t know where it came from. I showed it to some Italian guy once, who claimed that it was Charon’s own, but I don’t buy that shit (though the letters on the side look a little like Cyrillic). I don’t know where it got the name from either, some dealer’s idea of a bad joke.
First guy I killed with it, a particularly nasty fleshworker who ran around with no face. After I’d finished the job, I went back home and got a call from a friend, who claimed that he’d just done a seeker chant and the bastard was still alive.
We followed the chant’s pathway, it took us straight to the maternity ward of the local hospital. It led us straight to an hour hold baby in an incubator. I’ve checked back on the kid more recently, he’s nearly ten now and seems normal and happy enough. I don’t think he remembers anything of his past life (makes sense I suppose)
I can see the advantages, though. Your kill instantly reincarnates as a newborn child, meaning you don’t have to watch your back for any vengeful ghost that may result from your old enemy. I actually tried the thing on a spook once, and it disappeared with the sound of a baby’s cry.
It’s a weird, weird way to kill someone. And this is before I even get on to the creepy faeries that have been bugging me ever since I started using the damn thing.
Meh, sweeeet…. my players would love it because they can’t use it. 😉
Interesting. Faeries would be really, really uncomfortable around it, though strangely attracted. And how often are faeries disconcerted?
Imagine if you were reincarnated from a faerie existence? Even not remembering anything, I imagine that it would work some strange mojo on you…
