The Undertaker

The one that takes you from the living to the dead.

The toll-keeper of the final road. The guide that leads you to the vally of the dead. This is the essence of the undertaker. He is not like the shamen for his essence lies in death. It does not matter who dies for it is his purpose to come for anyone.

Attrabutes:He is genrally pictured as stern and solemn. He has few attachments as he knows how soon people can die.

Taboo: Showing emotion while carring a body is forbidden. As is refusing to give someone rights. Too many emotional attachments weaken your connection to your archtype.

Symbols: Black, The scythe and the ferry are all examples. The animial is the raven or the vulture.

Masks:The ferryman of the river styx

Suspected Avatars:Unknown

75%-90%:
At this level the avatar may banish demons.

91%+:

Far too undefined and powerful… and a little not-right. If the Undertaker deals with Death, why give him power over demons? Perhaps powers involving the consolation of grief (allowing him to remove a single failed notch related to someone’s death) or the ability to take a lost soul from one location to another safely (allowing him to flip-flop rolls that protect that soul… a modern-day ferryman)?

Thanks I think your right. The point with demons was to symoblize their coming back being aginst the ideals but I think I’ll just put that in his taboo. Although I may keep the ghoul thing as thats more for information as they were to symbolicly represent the morneurs which accompany funerals

    Errata:

    75%-90%:
At this leval the avatar may conduct a funeral service. The conduction of this service may remove one failed notch aginst relating to the death on a succesful avatar roll. It also reminds all involved of mortality. Violence checks are increased by one leval for the next hour.
91%+: At this leval the avatar radiats solmenty. A self check at leval 2 is required to attack him with anything that would wound. This upgrades to a leval 4 check if he is on his way to a body and a leval 8 check if he is actually in a service.

Taboo: In addition to the above taboo this archtype considers demons to be a sin aginst nature. With the exception of Ghouls no demon may be summoned without comitting a serious deviance and allowing a summoning is a minor deavence.

It would be good too if the new third channel prevented the recently dead from becoming a demon to begin with, guarantying eternal peace and all that, no?

Other masks in litterature: the whole population of the Necropolis Litharge (Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman”, volume VIII and X)

Yeah I was thinking about doing that. So eratta v2.0:
Anyone having the third channel used on them and being likely to become a demon must make a soul check. If they fail there gone for good. Otherwise they become a demon.

Thank you both for the suggestions. It seems a lot more balanced to me now.

I foresee some Isolation, and perhaps self checks for this one. Perhaps as addendum, Pointblanking is a degree or three easier to accomplish, if the opposition is ‘unnatural’ enough. Thoughts?

I’d agree with the checks. But pointblanking doesn’t seem to work only because he isn’t meant to kill, only to guide the dead.
