The origin of the knife is completely unknown, which is a good thing, seeing as having just one of them running around is bad enough, and somebody would probably think it’s a good idea to make another one.
It’s a simple butchers knife, with a wooden handle. It’s from a common manufacturer, and to all outwards appearances, is normal.
The problems begin when, under a new owner, it tastes human blood. And somehow, it *always* tastes human blood.
At that moment, it begins to speak to the wielder. The first thing it usually says is “Thank you”, often closely followed by “More”. After the knife is active it gains the skill Aid and Influence (Character’s Name) at 10%.
The blood speaks to the owner within his own head (which is usually an Unnatural-3 check), offering advice and knowledge (of which is has a surprisingly large amount). The advice it offers usually leads to it getting fed blood, which it actually absorbs through the blade, as if it were a sponge. Seeing this for the first time is an Unnatural-3 check. It suggestions are very enticing, and become more so, as the knifes skill increases.
Every time is has human blood, that is, causes any wounds, it gains 2% to its Aid and Influence skill for the character that wielded it. Every time it is used to kill someone, it gains ten percent on the skill. Every time is offers advice (or an order) to the wielder, it rolls its skill, and ignoring successful advice is a self-8 check. Also, in any combat or murder situation, the knife rolls its skill, and on a success, confers the amount it rolled as a positive shift to the characters wield knife skill. When the skill reaches 100%, the knife gains control of the character completely, and usually goes on a spree of murders.
