Check out Warren Ellis’ comics series Fell. It’s mainly a gritty detective story, no overt supernatural elements, but the mood of the thing is pure UA.

Pretty much everything Ellis does is UA, but yeah, Fell is the mean business.
The same could be said of Grant Morrison, albeit a lot flashier.
Grant Morrison is good for Cosmic level stuff. Fell is perfect for the opening stages of a street-level game.
