It has been noted that the father of her child, who is also suspected of fathering the child she’s carrying, is a policeman on the force and married to another woman. They explicitly made it known that neither him nor his wife are suspects.

To me, that’s the most suspicious part. Why are they suddenly crossed off as not suspects so early in the case?

The lack of serious evidence is the most disturbing part. There are a few interesting points, however.

The bleach spilled on the floor is strange. She might have been using the bleach for cleaning or laundry when something went wrong or she could have been using the bleach for some sort of ritual. The furniture in disarray seems to indicate a struggle, but could also just as easily indicate a physical disturbance caused by powerful magick. However, what takes the cake is the kid’s statement of “Mommy’s in the rug.” I can only think up a few very bizzare mundane circumstances which would prompt a young child to say that. As such, it’s gotta be an indication of magick gone awry.

Remember the discussion of traveling to alternate planes through mirrors? What if Jesse Davis found a way into some Otherspace through her livingroom rug? Think about it.

If it’s murder or kidnapping, “Mommy’s in the rug” might be A) Mom was wrapped in a rug when she was taken away, B) Blood was spilt on the rug, or C) Mom (or culprit/s) told her kid something to calm her down that involved imagination and “she’ll always be with you… she’s a part of the rug.”

BUT the bleach gives it away. It’s the Ritual of the Faded Tapestry, dating from Medieval times when specially prepared tapestries were hung in sunny areas to fade them, thus connecting them with the spiritual realm (symbolized at the time by the solar energy fading the dyes). They were usually let fade to only a certain degree, thus maintaining enough of a barrier to prevent MOST things on the other side from passing into our world at the cost of a slightly more difficult passage for us into theirs.

I feel a bit mercenary discussing this, but it is a very intriguing story. It has a great deal of human interest as well as the occult angle.

There is a corrollary to this story, mentioned on Scared Monkeys Missing Persons site, where the child says “Mommy Broke the Table, and Mommy’s in the Rug.” Since all of this was reported by the mother of the missing woman, its possible that mother might be either fabricating things to protect (or implicate) her daughter or might be a key figure in the dissapearance herself.

Perhaps she bore her daughter specifically for this ancient family ritual, but when things went awry, she had to cover her tracks.
