Oh man, this is not the first time I ever heard about something like that. Not only have pools sucked out people’s innards, but have drowned people when there hair, limbs, and torsos are sucked down in pools and hot tubs.

It seems impossible to believe but it happens. In fact there’s a great short story about that happening to a guy called GUTS. It’s by the same author who did Fight Club.

What I want to know is what people are going to do about these carniverous swimming pools.

I dunno, feed them live pigs at regular intervals so they’re not so famished? Might cut down on the eviscerations.

Invite your enemies over for a poolside barbeque, of course. A peace gesture, that sort of thing.

Sadly, this kind of thing happens all the time. I used to work for a plastic surgeon who was constantly writing letters for lawyers about some guy or other who hadn’t so much as an internship in reconstructive surgery performing an improper liposuction.

People don’t realize that the subcutaneous fat on a human forms a kind of infrastructure, especially in your “belly.” If you suck out random pieces of someone’s fat system, the flesh it’s attached to can become necrotic – litterally rotting away in spots where the underlying fat is damaged or the support has been lost.

As an aside, is it me or are Fox and CNN becoming more and more like British tabloid all the time? It seems like half of the sensationalist news sources on this site come from those two media outlets.

Sorry, left a sentence out of the last post: I meant to say that people getting their insides sucked out happens all the time, not just accidentally, but due to improper medical procedures, etc.

That pool is posessed by the god of trilobites, taking sweet revenge on the notochord-bearing worms that drove his people to extinction long ago.

I mean, what is a swimming pool, if not the cybernetic apotheosis of a filter-feeder with a segmented shell? The huge mouth, the expansion seams in the concrete, all those hidden digestion mechanisms but no ability to bite or chew.

More children die from swimming pools than from guns.
