Roland was a warrior, from the Land of the Midnight Sun…
No one can say when or where Roland came from. All they know is that he was the best damn gunman anyone ever knew, and that some bastard blew his brains out. And that wasn’t quite enough to stop him. Whether by sheer willpower or some kind of magick, Roland managed to return as a demon, possessing his own headless body. Being both an almost impossibly talented gunman and pseudo-immortal, he’s put his unlife to shooting down anyone he sees worth killing. Although he’s short a head, he doesn’t let that keep him down. He can perceive the world with some vaguely defined, sixth-sense type of thing, and can still kinda “talk,” although it mostly sounds like he’s whistling out of his throat. Most people who see Roland can’t tell he’s headless–their minds just insert a generic head on top of his empty shoulders, rather than showing them the truth. Adepts, avatars, and others who are clued-in to the Occult Underground see him for what he really is.
A diehard Taurus. To most people who’ve come across him, Roland seems like an emotionless killing machine set on cleansing the world of anyone who rubs him this way. Now, this is pretty close, but not entirely accurate. A couple of dukes have actually helped Roland out with some of his hits, or hung with him between vendettas, and they’ve seen a slightly more human side, inasmuch as a demon-possessed zombie can have a human side. Roland is cold, relentless, and more than willing to kill, but he’s not emotionless or a killing machine by far.
Roland believes his lot in unlife is to find the bastards that need to be filled up with lead, and giving them what they deserve. He’s never told anyone exactly how he defines his bastards, but he’s got a reason for every killing he’s ever done.
Rage: Roland absolutely hates people that whip out guns they have no right to and no need to use. He’s got plenty of respect for a soldier, even for a thug who uses a handgun when he needs it, but when some rich kid picks up a shotgun he has no idea to fire and holds up a bank, he’d better hope Roland’s got something better on his hands to do.
Fear: Roland knows all it takes is a lucky Thanatomancer, and he’s gone. He’s practically terrified of Butchers. (Unnatural)
Noble: Roland’s always willing to help the underdog in a fight, ‘specially if they’ve got a noble, Romantic cause to die for.

The Eternal Thompson Gunner: Roland doesn’t die. When he’s reduced to 0 wound points, he rolls his The Eternal Thompson Gunner skill. If he rolls under his skill, he comes back to life in a number of hours equal to the sum of the digits of his roll, with wound points equal to the roll. If he doesn’t roll under his skill, it takes him 24 hours to come back, and he comes back with 1 wound point. If he rolls a 01 or gets a matched failure, it takes him a whole week to come back. Roland will die permanently if his body is completely destroyed–burned, dumped into an acid bath, or the like. Likewise, if he gets a spell that can banish or exorcise demons cast on him, like the Thanatomancy spell The Banishing, he has to make a successful Mind roll or be permanently cast out of his body, becoming no more than an ordinary, run-of-the-mill demon.

Roland’s lone possession of note is his beloved Thompson submachine gun. It takes .45 ACP rounds, with a 30-round magazine. Roland typically carries a couple of those, along with a single drum magazine that contains 100 rounds. Its max damage is 60.
Roland’s made a lot more enemies in his crusade than allies, but he’s got a few. The Sleepers occasionally make a call to him to take out dukes who’ve been prodding the Tiger, and Alex Abel has attempted to recruit him into TNI, albeit unsuccessfully. He’s been known to partner up with Dirk Allen once in a blue moon, when he finds himself in over his–groan here–head.
Damn it, typo in the title. If only I could catch that kinda stuff when I hit preview…
Nice. The one thing I’m not sure I agree with is the ‘mortals ignore his headlessness’, it doesn’t seem to fit with UA. If I ever borrow this, I think I’ll have him using a mock up, and a bunch more stealth.
M121, you could go with a wax head… but then, Roland might be wearing a Canadian Army uniform from WWI….
